I grew up in the Bay area, and graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I worked at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego in the Departments of Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, and in the Pediatric Emergency Department. I started my Masters in Nursing to specialize as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at UCSF when my first child Summer was 6 weeks old. Early in my career, breastfeeding became an important aspect of my personal and professional life. I have worked as the Well Baby Nurse Practitioner on the maternity unit at a hospital in San Francisco for the last 16 years. I have been an IBCLC for 10 years. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Nursing to advance my education at USF. I am a member of the Breastfeeding Promotion Committee of the San Francisco Food Security Task Force. I am passionate about motherhood, and working with new mothers during an exciting and vulnerable time. My other interests include training at Bootcamp, weekly beach hiking with my husband, and local theater (I have three teenagers in theater arts). I am currently the President of a teen theater company in San Francisco, and a staunch advocate for the arts. *
